TRAUMA 

A deeply disturbing and upsetting experience that can lead to long-lasting psychological, emotional and physical effects can be said to be TRAUMA. It's actually complex and sensitive.

TYPEOF TRAUMA

1. Acute trauma: A simple discrete events (e.g natural disasters, accidentassault).

2. Chronic trauma: Ongoing or repeated events (e.g abuse,neglect,war).

3. Complex trauma: Multiple, interconnected traumatic experiences (e.g childhood abuse, domestic violence).

 


EFFECTS OF TRAUMA

- Emotional regulation difficulties.

- Hypervigilance or avoidance.

- Intrusive thoughts or memories.

- Physical symptoms (e.g, pain, sleep disturbances).

- Relationahip challenges.

- Self-esteem and identify issues.

 


WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO OVERCOMING TRAUMA?

Overcoming traumatic experiences can be a challenging and ongoing process. The steps involved are;

1. Seek support by connecting with trusted friends and families,and non- judgemental space to share your experiences.

2. Acknowledge your feelings by recognizing and validating your emotions even if they're painful or uncomfortable.

3. Process your experiences by sharing your story with others, if possible write in a journal or engage in creative activities.

4. Practice self-care, that is, take care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being through activities like exercisemeditation or spending time in nature.

5. Consider therapy.

6. Build resilience.

7. Forgive yourself and others.

8. Find purpose and meaning.

CONCLUSION

Remember, overcoming truama is a unique and individual journey. Be patient, kind and gentle with yourself as you navigate the healing process and don't hesitate to reach out for support when needed.
